The Texas Longhorn Marketing Alliance (TLMA)
How is it organized?
The TLMA was founded by 35 prominent Longhorn breeders who were concerned that our industry was not growing and prospering as it should. The TLMA Board of Directors is comprised of eight persons - the CEO and seven directors elected by the founding members. The TLMA is structured so that no founding member can dominate the organization. Out of a total of 109 votes, no founding member has more than 5 votes. In addition, membership advisory boards will be organized to provide input to help the TLMA provide value to all breeders.
What is the purpose of the TLMA?
Our mission statement is very straightforward:
· To preserve the dignity and integrity of the Texas Longhorn breed and to serve as voluntary stewards of the Longhorn legacy.
· To sponsor an alliance among owners of Texas Longhorns that encourages respectful communication, fun events, and a positive environment.
· To promote, advertise, and market Texas Longhorns for the express purpose of enhancing their value and marketability.
What will the TLMA do?
One of our goals is to grow the Longhorn industry by attracting more people to become breeders. There are many ways to do this, including advertising in publications that appeal to people with related interests. Industry growth will add more members to the Longhorn associations, add more circulation and advertising revenue to all Longhorn publications, and create a better sales market for Longhorn cattle.
Another goal of the TLMA is to create fun and excitement in our industry with positive events and friendly relationships. We have received a large number of ideas about new and unique things that can be done to generate more interest in the Longhorn industry.
Finally, we believe the breeders of our industry work hard, and deserve all the assistance they can get. The TLMA is developing a number of special benefits that will allow members to reduce costs and operate more efficiently. Look for more information on this topic soon.
Anything else?
Here are a few more important points:
· The TLMA intends to work closely with both the TLBAA and ITLA to improve the Longhorn industry.
· The TLMA does not intend to operate a registry.
· The TLMA does not advocate boycotting of any event or publication.
· The TLMA does not intend to create a show circuit.
Why will you publish a magazine?
Our publication, Texas Longhorn Journal, is an integral part of our plan to expand the Longhorn industry. We intend to use the Journal to reach out and attract more prospective breeders. The TLJ will contain interesting features on members' programs and care and nutrition of Longhorns, as well as historical Journal articles from the past. Many issues will highlight celebrities who are involved in the Longhorn industry.
How do I join?
Very simple. You can become a VIP member for only $100 per year, or a VIP Lifetime member for $1000. Lifetime members will receive a beautiful commemorative bronze.
The Longhorn industry is in a wonderful position to grow and flourish, and this is a great time for everyone to work together to make things better!
